Weathercaster Owain Wyn Evans is leading the search for exceptional homes across Wales.
Launch of BBC Cymru Wales The House of Walesr, a brand new real estate program, in which the meteorologist will be joined by fellow judges Mandy Watkins and Glen Thomas.
House of the year in Wales is looking for homes of all types from across Wales to apply to take part in the new 6-part series.
Whether it’s a terraced house, a bungalow, a castle, a country house or a contemporary apartment, an urban residence or a seaside, the filmmakers are looking for homes that embody stunning design, style or architecture.
Filming for the IWC production (a Banijay UK company) will begin in April and will air on BBC One Wales later this year.
Owain Wyn Evans said: “I’m delighted to be one of Wales’ House of the Year Judges – it’s my dream job! I’ve loved turning homes into homes over the years and can’t wait to experience the same feeling of love at these stunning Welsh properties.
“The concept of ‘home’ is not something you can touch or hold, but it is something you can feel. I will be looking for an individual style, something that reveals the owner’s personality and a strong sense of hiraeth.
Mandy Watkins, experienced interior designer, business owner and presenter from Anglesey, said: “I am delighted to be a judge for Wales’ Home of the Year. I love looking around other people’s houses! As a designer, I research the personality of a house, it’s such an important part of my job, making sure the house reflects the owner. So in this series, I want to go in and immediately get an idea of who lives there.
“Abundant Variety”
Glen Thomas, director of a multi-award-winning architectural design firm in Cardiff, says: “In Wales we have such a wonderful variety of architecture, from warehouse apartments in the bay to elegant Victorian terraces in the capital and striking contemporary ecos. – dwellings in the countryside.
“As a judge of this new Welsh series, I hope that when I walk through these doors I will be greeted by a wide range of innovative designs, unique styles and overall a sense of drama!”
Nick Andrews, commissioning manager for BBC Wales, said: “This is going to be a great series. If, like me, you’ve always wanted to snoop around some of the best homes in Wales, the wait is over. And we won’t be alone either; Owain, Mandy and Glen will be there with us to offer their insight, expertise and instinctive reaction. I can not wait.
Wales’ Home of the Year is made by IWC Media and is based on BBC Scotland’s hit series Scotland’s Home of the Year.
Applications to take part in the Wales Home of the Year should be sent to and should include contact details, a brief description of the home and some photos.
