Privacy appears to be a priority on the 2022 agenda for WhatsApp. The instant messaging app is said to be testing a feature that could potentially hide the online status of its users.

The latest development was reported by wabetainfo.com. WhatsApp recently introduced several features and concepts such as “My Contacts Except†and “Quick Repliesâ€. The company is experimenting with new concepts to ensure an efficient user experience.

The lack of a feature that turns off online status for many has been a cause of annoyance. While WhatsApp has the ability to hide last seen and online details, there are plenty of third-party apps that can monitor users’ online activities. It would appear that the new confidentiality measure aims to prevent this interference.

According to the concept presented on wabetainfo.com, users can hide their online status after selecting “Nobody” in Privacy settings> Last seen. Users can enter stealth mode after opting to “Hide online statusâ€. The website reiterated that this is a concept and is looking for the best way to suggest features for new updates.
Earlier this week, it was reported that the messaging app is planning to have a new feature that will allow users to search for nearby businesses. According to a report on Wabetainfo, the feature has been rolled out to some users in Sao Paulo and will soon be available to more users.

This feature will be available for iOS and Android users. Users will be able to search for clothing stores, grocery stores, hotels, restaurants or any business nearby. It is not yet known when this will be rolled out.
