“Our supplier diversity efforts go beyond the brands customers see on our shelves,” said Peter Whitset, Meijer Executive Vice President of Merchandising and Marketing. “Our goal is to support diversely owned businesses in our stores, from the products we offer to the signage we hang and the services that keep stores running. That’s why we’re excited to include a wide range of business categories in this event. ”
Various brands owned by merchandise owners in the following retail categories can apply for the event here:
- Beauty and personal care
- Over-the-counter and wellness
- General Merchandise
- Grocery store
In addition, the retailer accepts bids from business service providers owned by various interests offering the following goods and services here:
- Incoming carriers
- Specialized trades for the construction and maintenance of facilities
- All business services (Marketing, HR, IT and Financial)
- Supplies, packaging, MRO and signage
- Environmental services, real estate and new construction sites
- Store fixtures, manufacturing and warehousing equipment
Certified minority, LGBTQ, female, veteran, and disabled businesses offering products or services in the listed categories may apply by Monday, February 7 for exam.
Meijer partners with ECRM and RangeMe, to host the retail product portion of the event through the company’s ECRM Connect virtual platform. Suppliers of non-retail goods and services will register through STARS, an application hosted by Viva, another third-party partner.
Once applications for the event have been submitted, Meijer teams will review and select the vendors they wish to meet virtually. Suppliers not chosen for the event will still be accessible through the RangeMe or STARS registration tools and may be reviewed again by Meijer buyers and sales teams in the future as business needs change. .
