JiDU, a company jointly developed by Baidu and Geelyannounced on Monday that it will hold a launch event on June 8, when it will unveil its robot concept car.
According to JiDU, the vehicle is inspired by spaceships and has a high level of self-driving capabilities on highways and urban roads, in addition to an ultra-smart front console.
This vehicle will have L4 level self-driving capability and act as a near co-pilot for drivers. In addition, based on AI and big data technology, it will have the ability to learn on its own and evolve according to its needs.
JiDU updated its SIMU Car (Software Integration Mule Car) to version 2.0 at the end of February this year. This upgrade means that JiDU’s smart driving and smart console software is integrated with its independently developed electronic and electrical architecture and operating system integration.
At present, Nvidia Orin and Hesai AT128 semi-solid LiDAR systems have been installed on vehicles to participate in the test of the integrated autonomous driving system.

JiDU’s first model for mass production will be launched in 2023. At present, the company has started the pre-research phases of follow-on models, while its second vehicle for mass production is expected to be launched in Auto Guangzhou at the end of this year.
