A new property TV show will be looking for the best house in Wales – and here’s how you can enter

It’s time to mow the lawn, hide the kids’ smelly sneakers in the shed, and finish all those little DIY jobs you never seem to get around to, because the hunt is on for the Land of the Year house of the year. Wales.

Whether it is a terraced house, a bungalow, a castle, a country house or a contemporary apartment, an urban dwelling or somewhere by the sea, you might have a chance to brag about the best house in the country.

BBC Cymru Wales is launching a brand new property program called Wales’ Home of the Year, with presenter Owain Wyn Evans leading the search for exceptional homes across Wales.

Joined by fellow judges Mandy Watkins and Glen Thomas, the Wales House of the Year is looking for houses of all types from across Wales to apply to take part in the new six-part series.

Filming for the IWC production, a Banijay UK company, will begin in April 2022 and will air on BBC One Wales later in the year. So the hunt is now on for Welsh homes that embody the stunning design, style or architecture that could possibly make it to the small screen.

Owain Wyn Evans says: “I’m delighted to be one of the judges for Wales’ Home of the Year – it’s my dream job! I’ve loved turning homes into homes over the years. years, and I can’t wait to feel the same sense of love at these gorgeous Welsh properties.

“The concept of ‘home’ is not something you can touch or hold, but it is something you can feel. I will be looking for an individual style, something that reveals the owner’s personality and a strong sense of hiraeth.”

Mandy Watkins, experienced interior designer, business owner and presenter from Anglesey, said: “I’m so excited to be a judge on Wales House of the Year. I love looking around homes others !

“As a designer I’m looking for the personality of a house, it’s such an important part of my job, making sure the house reflects the owner. So in this series I want to come in and get an idea right away. of who lives there.”

Glen Thomas, director of a multi-award-winning architectural design firm in Cardiff, says: “In Wales we have such a wonderful variety of architecture, from warehouse apartments in the bay to elegant Victorian terraces in the capital city and with a striking contemporary eco-dwellings in the countryside.

Wales’ Home of the Year is made by IWC Media and is based on BBC Scotland’s hit series Scotland’s Home of the Year.
